It started with my grandparents' spreadsheet.

Every year, twenty-some of us travel somewhere together. And every year the planning landed on my grandparents and one Excel sheet: who's flying in when, who's sharing which room, who owes what. They made it work. It also took them months.

That's the job Notched does now.

I've been getting groups of people where they need to be for most of my life. At eighteen I went to Europe with four friends, a list of countries and no other plan. (It worked out. Mostly.) Then came kids, and a lot of travel with them.

Then fifteen years of doing it for a living. More than a hundred multi-week training programs and trade show weeks for a tech company: the executives' flights, the hotel rooms, the booth crates. Then luxury travel, behind more than a thousand trips, including a destination wedding for a hundred guests at Susurros del Corazón in Punta de Mita, Mexico. Along the way I've taken groups to a Super Bowl, an NFC Championship and the ski slopes, and my own family through Italy.

So I know what goes wrong. The flight that lands after the shuttle leaves. The room booked under the wrong name. The cousin who never got the address. Most of the job is catching that before you ever see it.
